2026 Honoree
Officer George M. Brentar #93
End of Watch: October 10, 2007

Officer George Brentar, a 22-year veteran of the Euclid Police Department, lost his life in the line of duty on October 10, 2007, while attempting to stop a speeding motorist. His patrol car hydroplaned on an entrance ramp to Interstate 90, struck a pole, and caught fire.

A dedicated officer, George never missed a day of work and was nominated three times for Officer of the Year. His honors included the Exceptional Service Award, Safe Driving Award, Education Achievement Award, and Sharpshooter Firearms Award. In his final year, he served in the traffic division, working tirelessly to keep the roads safe.

Born, raised, and serving his entire life in Euclid, George was deeply committed to his community and widely respected by his fellow officers.

Above all, he was a devoted husband to Linda and a loving father to Erika and Michael.

An avid outdoorsman, George also helped start the “Get Hooked on Fishing, Not Drugs” program, guiding local youth toward positive choices.

Officer Brentar was laid to rest on October 15, 2007. His badge #93 and patrol car #32 were retired in his honor.

His legacy of service, dedication, and family continues to inspire.
